Smaller Illustrator files

AI compressor

Illustrator files are often huge because they store your artwork twice and keep full-size photos. Shrink them for email, WhatsApp and client portals — the result is still a .ai file.

How it works

  1. 01

    Add .ai files

Drop one or many Illustrator files (saved with PDF compatibility — Illustrator's default).

  2. 02

    Pick a level

Recommended keeps embedded photos at 150 DPI; Light keeps print quality; Strong is smallest.

  3. 03

    Compress

The duplicate editing copy is removed and photos are resampled. Vector paths and text are never touched.

  4. 04

    Download

Download each .ai or a ZIP. A file is never made bigger.

Frequently asked questions

Why are .ai files so big?+

Illustrator saves a PDF version of your artwork plus a second, Illustrator-only editing copy, and keeps placed photos at full resolution. Removing the duplicate and resampling photos usually saves 50–90%.

Can I still open and edit it in Illustrator?+

Yes — it opens in Illustrator, Acrobat, Inkscape, CorelDRAW and any PDF viewer, and vectors stay editable. Illustrator-only extras such as live effects, symbols or artboard names may come back expanded, so keep your original as the master copy and send the compressed one.

Will the logo or text lose quality?+

No. Vector shapes and text are copied unchanged; only embedded photos are resampled to the DPI you pick.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?+

No. Everything runs inside your browser on your own device, so confidential documents never leave your computer. That also means there's no upload wait.
